The Zhejiang Federation of Literary and Art Circles recently announced the second batch of “Zhejiang Province Artistic Rural Revitalization Featured Villages”. Four villages, including Xitou Village of Baoxi Township in Longquan City, Zhilingtou Village of Lianzhu Township in Suichang County, Songzhuang Village of Sandu Township in Songyang County, and Kenggen Village of Chongtou Town in Yunhe County, were included in the list. With this addition, the city now has a total of seven provincially recognized “Artistic Rural Revitalization Featured Villages”.

Artistic rural revitalization is a distinctive brand developed by our province to support rural revitalization through cultural and artistic efforts. It is an important measure for advancing rural revitalization and promoting common prosperity. Following the first batch of 35 “Zhejiang Province Artistic Rural Revitalization Featured Villages”, the second batch was selected through local recommendations, on-site assessments, and comprehensive evaluations, with 46 villages ultimately recognized.

Since last year, Lishui has been actively implementing the “Artistic Rural Revitalization” initiative as part of the “Four Dual Hundred Initiative” to assist in achieving common prosperity, aiming to build a model for artistic rural revitalization in mountainous regions nationwide. To date, the city has produced two national model cases, six provincial model cases, and 76 featured villages (seven provincial-level and 69 city-level). These cases and experiences have been shared at national and provincial exchanges, placing our city in the forefront of artistic rural revitalization in the province.

Xitou Village, recently recognized as the “Best Tourism Village” in the world, has developed unique cultural brands such as “Heritage of Ancient Kilns”, “Bamboo Charm”, “Clear Waters and Fish”, “Nostalgic Baoxi” and “Eternal Kiln Fire”. The village has established over 10 art spaces, including the “Integrated Academy” and Eight Trees Park, Houyang Firefly Base, and Starry Sky Tents. These initiatives have spurred the development of two silver guesthouses, one intangible cultural heritage-themed guesthouse, and 10 income-generating projects. Among these, the “Pet Paradise” project, which strengthens the village’s economy, generates annual revenue of over 600,000 RMB, adding 300,000 RMB to the village’s collective operational income.

Zhilingtou Village boasts traditional cultural features such as the provincial intangible cultural heritage Bu Yi Quan (clothes fist), gold culture, ancient ancestral hall culture, and ancient well culture. It has built rural art galleries, artist studios, and artist stations, hosting tens of thousands of artists and art students from across the country and attracting 8 well-known artists to settle in Lianzhu. By holding art schools, it has cultivated a group of villagers engaged in art creation, promoting the development of local art characteristics.

Songzhuang Village, with “artistic weaving” as its main theme, has attracted 18 artists in illustration and sculpture to settle, establishing 4 studios. It has transformed the Tao Art Museum art space and the “Internet Celebrity Bridge” to complement each other, launched the “Graffiti at the Village Entrance” peasant painting exhibition, and held brand art events such as the “Sewing Youth Market” and “Up the Mountain for Water · Valley Fair”. The village has been transformed into an art center that integrates art exhibition, cultural and creative sales, and internet celebrity check-in spots.

Kenggen Village, located in the Yunhe Terraced Fields scenic area and known as the “Stone Village on the Cloud”, focuses on the literary and artistic characteristics of “photography, fine arts, ancient dwellings, and tea”. It has created the “Kenggen Stone Village” cultural brand and continues to carry out brand literary and art activities such as the “Inheritance of the Mangzhong Start of Plowing Festival”. It has nurtured new literary and artistic formats such as Yungu Mountain House, Unexpected Coffee, and Wood Toy Workshop, leading over 100 villagers to engage in the cultural and tourism industry. Last year, it achieved a business income of more than 7.8 million yuan.
